About Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a highly effective method to help clients stop smoking and to lose weight. It is extremely successful in eliminating phobias, improving memory and concentration, resolving insomnia, increasing motivation, reducing stress, eliminating test anxiety, enhancing performance, managing pain and assisting with any other challenge we may have in our daily lives. The American Medical Association has approved Hypnosis as a valuable tool for creating positive change and promoting health and wellness.

How does Hypnosis work?

During a hypnosis session I will help you to experience a deep state of relaxation or hypnosis as we call it. While you are in this pleasant, dreamlike state your mind becomes open to positive suggestions and change. Hypnosis allows you to reprogram your mind, process your emotions, get rid of old, unwanted behavior patterns and replace them with new, positive alternatives.  Therefore, habits can be broken, phobias dissolved, and new ways of thinking can be born.  You can begin to get the most out of your life!

How does it feel?

During a session, you will feel deeply relaxed, but fully aware of what’s going on.  To anyone watching you, you may appear to be asleep but you’re not, and are able to participate fully in the session. We have all experienced this state of consciousness without even knowing it. When we are daydreaming or totally engrossed in a book or a film we are actually in a state of hypnosis.

Common Misconceptions About Hypnosis

Even in the enlightened, educated world of today, the word hypnosis still brings forth feelings of fear and apprehension to many people. They still think a hypnotist can control them or make them tell their innermost personal secrets. Others believe that when they are in the hypnotic state, they are unconscious and not aware of what’s happening around them. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

When an individual is in the hypnotic state, physically they are deeply relaxed but mentally they’re hundreds of times more alert then when in their normal state of awareness. Their ability to hear what’s going on around them is greatly improved. They’re aware of everything and are active participants in the hypnotic process. It’s impossible to force a suggestion on anybody that they don’t want to have or that they may feel uncomfortable with. Such a suggestion would be instantly rejected and would have no affect on them.

Clients are always in control. No suggestion can enter the subconscious mind without them actively supporting and helping to get that suggestion there.
